Introduction

If you’re noticing sparks or quick flashes of light when you use your blow dryer, or if it simply isn’t working properly, there’s a strong chance that the electrical brushes have reached the end of their lifespan. Make sure to purchase electrical brushes that are compatible with your specific device before beginning.

Make sure the dryer is unplugged before beginning.

What you need

Step 1

              Electrical Brushes               
  • Make sure to unplug the device before beginning.
  • Rotate the stainless steel filter counterclockwise and pull upwards to remove it.

Step 2

  • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the back cover.

  • Lift off the back cover.

  • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the dryer motor.
  • Remove the motor from its plastic housing.

Step 5

  • Unscrew the small plastic cap on the side of the motor and lift out the spring.
  • Remove the carbon electrical brush.
  • Repeat for the cap on the other side of the motor.

Step 6

  • Install the new carbon brushes, and screw the caps back on.
  • Make sure the spring beneath the cap is properly positioned before tightening,

  • Place the motor back into the housing.
  • Rotate the motor clockwise to screw it into place.
  • Refasten the two motor screws using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

Step 8

  • Place the white wires coming off the motor back in the slots.
  • Place the diode in the slots.

  • Set the power cord back in its slot.

  • Reinstall the back cover.

  • Place the two screws back in place and tighten them with a Phillips #1 screwdriver.
