What you need

Step 1

              Setting Loco.               
  • Place Locomotive on the padding and gently turn over.

              Removing Brake Rigging.               
  • Remove brake rigging, and pop off gently.

              Unplugging Connection.               
  • Unplug the tender loco connection.

              Removing Drawbar.               
  • Unscrew two flat head screws on the drawbar.
  • Have a magnet on hand for screws that fall into the loco or onto the floor.

Step 5

              Removing Body.               
  • Unscrew the body using a philips screw driver.
  • Turn over and gently remove the body from the mechanism.
  • Recessed philips head.

Step 6

              Motor Mount Removal.               
  • Remove the motor mount philips screw and remove the gear covering.
  • Philips head screw.

              Worm Gear Greasing.               
  • Add a small amount of grease or oil to the loco.
  • Worm gear.
  • Be careful not to over-lubricate as it may hamper performance.
  • Only use purpose-specific grease or oil.

Step 8

              Reassembling Body.               
  • Replace the body onto the loco and turn over gently.
  • Reassemble until step 5.
  • Make sure the body is properly fitted to the locomotive. Pay attention to the lip on the back of the chassis.

Step 9

              Axle Removal.               
  • Move towards the trailing truck of the locomotive and remove screws.
  • Remove philps head screw.
  • Remove the trailing truck plate and remove the axle.

Step 10

              Greasing Axle.               
  • Clean, replace and grease.
  • Do not over lubricate.
