Not all versions of Microsoft Windows can change the color of icon text on the desktop. Most need the aid of a third-party program. Therefore, to change the icon text color, you need to download and install one of the programs below.
There are several programs capable to do this. Below is a short list of a few different programs we’ve tried.
Before downloading any of the following programs, it is important to know that Microsoft Windows refreshes the contents of the desktop often. If Windows resets your changes, you may need the program used to change the settings left open in memory.
- Iconoid - an excellent free and open-source program with the ability to change the icon text color and other features. Some features include hiding the icons, restoring icon positions, and more.
- Microangelo - a great program available to try with a free evaluation version. This program can change the icon’s text color and perform other icon-editing functions.
