Through online script

See the System Information tool for a quick and easy way to determine your version of Adobe Reader and if your browser supports reading PDF files.

Determining version of Adobe Reader in Windows?

  • Click Start and then Programs.
  • In Programs, if Adobe Acrobat is installed, you see an Adobe Acrobat x icon, where “x” is the version of Adobe Acrobat. For example, “Adobe Acrobat 8” may be seen if a variant of 8 is installed. Click this icon to open the program.
  • In the program, click Help, then About. In the about information, you’ll see the full version of Adobe Acrobat.

This script only supports determining the version of Adobe Reader if you have 7.7 or higher installed. If you’re using an alternative PDF reader, it detects PDF support, but will not show the name or version of the PDF reader you’re using.

  • See the PDF definition for further information and related links.
