The latest version of Internet Explorer is version 11. Microsoft bundles Internet Explorer with the Windows operating system. You can upgrade Internet Explorer to the latest version on your computer if you have a previous version. If Internet Explorer is removed from your computer, you can try to re-enable or reinstall it.
Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
If you have Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 on your computer, you have Internet Explorer 11 installed on the computer.
Microsoft is moving from Internet Explorer to the Microsoft Edge browser.
If you cannot find Internet Explorer on your computer because it was disabled or removed, follow the steps below to re-enable Internet Explorer 11 in Windows.
- Open the Control Panel.
- If using the Small icons view, click the Programs and Features icon. If using the Category view, click the Uninstall a program link under the Programs section.
- Click the Turn Windows features on or off link in the left navigation area.
- In the Windows Features window, look for the Internet Explorer 11 option and check the box next to that option.
If Internet Explorer 11 is not found in step 4 above, you can try using the Microsoft Update utility to download and install it again.
Windows 7
If you have Windows 7 and an older version of Internet Explorer, you can download and install Internet Explorer 11 through the Microsoft Update utility in Windows. You can also download Internet Explorer 11 directly from Microsoft’s website.
