A mouse with a trail is an accessibility feature known as a pointer trail which makes it easier to see the mouse pointer and track its movement. It is especially helpful to users who have impaired vision or very small computer monitors. To enable or disable this feature, follow the steps below.

  • Open the Control Panel.
  • In the Control Panel, double-click the Mouse icon.
  • In the Mouse Properties window, click the Motion tab and check or uncheck the “Show pointer trails” option to enable or disable the feature.

Microsoft Windows 2000 users need to install third-party software to enable mouse trails.
