              How to Factory Reset an AirTag               
  • Using one finger press, down on the back of the AirTag.

  • Twist the back cover counterclockwise.
  • Lift and remove the cover.

Step 3

  • Remove the battery using an index finger and thumb.
  • If you need to replace the battery, do so now. The battery type is a CR2032

Step 4

  • Place the battery back into the AirTag facing upwards.
  • Press down on the battery with light pressure until you hear a chime.
  • This ringing indicates that the battery is connected.

Step 5

  • When the chime finishes playing, repeat Step 4 five times by removing the battery, replacing it, and pressing down on the battery until you hear a chime.
  • On the fifth time you will hear a different chime as compared to the four previous times.

  • Once the fifth chime is heard the Air Tag has been reset and is ready to be paired.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
