Values were recently changed
If you are utilizing a DDO (dynamic drive overlay) to detect a hard drive, run through the setup process using the DDO’s software to ensure all values are correct. This software is usually included with the DDO, or may be downloaded from the manufacturer.
If a DDO is not being utilized, verify the values are properly set within CMOS. If CMOS is set up as Auto, this should be sufficient.
Jumpers not set properly
Verify the jumpers are properly set on the hard drive.
Cables loose or not connected
Verify the data and power cables are connected to the hard drive. If the cables appear to be connected correctly, disconnect and then re-connect the cables to ensure they are not loose. Also, verify the data cable connects to the motherboard or interface card.
Bad hardware
If all recommendations above are completed, but you continue to experience the same issues, the hard drive, motherboard, or interface board is likely bad. It is recommended that the hard drive be replaced first.
If the computer is under warranty, contact the manufacturer of the computer or hard drive for replacement.
