Introduction

Blinds on sliding doors can often be weak and easily broken. They hang vertically and can be easily broken when moving them side to side too quickly while not being careful.

Before using this guide, be sure that your blinds are broken at the end of the hanging slat and do not need to be fully replaced with a whole new set of blinds. Be sure to test that the blinds are able to move side to side and that the piece holding the hanging slats at the top isn’t broken itself.

In steps 1 and 6 of this guide, it requires you to remove or put back the hanging slat into the holding piece of your blinds. Carefully follow the directions to ensure you don’t further break your blinds.

  • Remove the broken hanging blind slat from the holding piece at the top of the blind.
  • In this case, it was clear the slat was broken because there was tape needed to hold it on.

  • Use scissors and cut the end of the slat just beneath the hole so it looks neater and a new hole can be made beneath it.

  • Use a ruler and pencil and mark halfway in between the two long sides.
  • In this case, the mark was made at 1.75 inches from each side.

Step 4

  • Use the ruler and pencil again, and go along the center line, down about 3/8 inch and put a dot.
  • In this particular case, about 3/8 inches works best however it could vary depending on the blinds.

Step 5

  • Use the hole puncher and make a hole through the dot you just made on the blind slat.

  • Replace the hanging slat back into the holding piece on the blinds.
  • Be careful in this step once again so as to not break the plastic piece or the newly fixed blind slat once again.

Your vertical blinds are now fixed and hanging properly, looking brand new!
