- If the slides are completely stuck, wiggle the slides from side to side while pulling it out of the trombone.

- Clean each slide using a paper towel or cloth.
- This will remove any friction the slides may have with the trombone.

- Check to see if the tuning slides are parallel with their corresponding parts.
- This can be done simply by aligning the slides against the trombone.

- If the slides are parallel, skip to step six. If not, attach each individual slide to the trombone and push/pull in the direction in which it would be parallel.
- This will straighten the warped slides back into place.

- Make sure each slide only gets a thin layer of grease. Too much grease could cause friction when attached to the trombone.
