Users who have installed a program that requires Internet access may experience an issue with Symantec’s Norton antivirus continuously asking if Internet access should be permitted. This issue is because Norton adds multiple instances of the same program in the permissions. To resolve this, follow the steps below.

  • Right-click the Norton antivirus icon in the systray and select Norton antivirus Options.
  • In the Norton antivirus Options, click the Internet Worm Protection.
  • Click Program Control.
  • Locate the program in the Program Control that is causing your issue.
  • Highlight the program, remove it and any other copies from the list, and click OK.
  • When prompted to permit the program again, permit or deny the program and you should not receive the prompt again.
  • See our antivirus definition for further information and related links.
