Also, because DirectX is as an integral part of Windows operating systems, you can update/intstall DirectX by applying the latest service pack or by updating through Windows Update.

If a game requires Microsoft DirectX, it prompts to install DirectX on the computer and has a “DirectX” folder on the CD or DVD. Also, keep in mind what version the game is attempting to install on the computer. Some games may want to install an older version of DirectX, however, we recommend only using the latest version.
