How To Silence MrCool Mini Split Buzzer
- Turn off power to the unit at the circuit breaker. Lift up to open the front cover of the air handler as if you were going to clean the air filters.

- Pry off the plastic cover on the right of the unit using the supplied pry-hole

- Disconnect the ribbon cable which connects the front cover to the main body of the air handler.

- Push outwards on the cover hinge arms to release the plastic hinges, the front cover should lift away from the main unit.

- Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove three screws from the front of the unit. The middle screw is hidden under a small plastic flap (see second photo).

- Gentelly pull up on the top of the white plastic housing to release the housing from the main unit. There are six small clips that need to be release from the top before the white housing will release from the unit. Once the clips on top are released, pull the white cover away from the wall while rotating it forward (roll it away from the wall).

- Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the screw at the top right of the unit holding the control box in place

- Pull the control box away from the unit, rotating it clockwise to reveal the back of the control box which was facing into the unit

- Release plastic clips to remove the metal shielding from the side of the control box that was facing into the unit

- Release more plastic clips to remove plastic casing that covers main PCB

- Locate the piezo buzzer on the main PCB and pull on the top half of it with your fingers or with a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the top half of the buzzer.

- With top half of buzzer removed your unit will now be silent. Repeat steps backwards to reassemble.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

I didn’t want to make a permanent change or risk damaging anything, so instead of removing the buzzer, I put a cut piece of paper cotton swap stick in the hole of the buzzer and dabbed some hot glue on top. This made the beep barely perceptible.
