If you want to change to the Dvorak keyboard layout and are using Windows, you can follow the steps below.
Changing the keyboard layout in Windows 8 and 10
- Open the Control Panel
- Under the Clock, Language, and Region section, click Change input methods.
- Click the Options link for your keyboard.
- Click Add an input method.
- Select the Dvorak layout you want to use.
Changing the keyboard layout in Windows Vista, 7, and earlier
- Open the Control Panel
- Under the Clock, Language, and Region section, click Change keyboards or other input methods.
- Click the Change keyboards button.
- Click Add and select one of the Dvorak keyboards. If you want an English Dvorak layout, scroll down to English and select either Dvorak, Dvorak for left hand, or Dvorak for right hand, depending on your preference.
Even if your keyboard is QWERTY you can still use the DVORAK layout although it may be more difficult to use.
