The laptop will not power on unless connected to external power.
If the laptop is unable to power on without external power, it is likely that the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. Luckily, the battery is easily accessible on the back of the computer and can be replaced easily using this guide.

Sound is not audible at any selected volume.
If audio is not working when a volume is selected, there could be a software error. If you have not already, update to the latest version of the operating system you are running. This can be done by simply researching how to update your specific OS. I am not providing a guide on how to do it here as the update process will vary based on the OS.
Try plugging in an external set of speakers or headphones to troubleshoot the built-in speakers. If sound can be heard through the plugged in device, the speakers are faulty and need to be replaced.
The operating system will not load, computer sends error message.
If your computers performance diminishes, randomly restarts or freezes, or displays error messages, you may have faulty RAM. Install new RAM into your computer.
The hard drive in your computer may have an error on it. This can happen when the user shuts off the computer by pressing the power button instead of initiating the shutdown sequence through the operating system, water damage, corrupt files or mechanical malfunction.
The touch pad on the computer may have been disabled or turned off. Make sure touchpad is turned on, if needed change touchpad settings in the control panel.
