Introduction

A hard disk drive is used to store data on your device. It can store files, documents, programs, images, music, and files needed by your operating system to run your computer correctly. This device supports HDDs with the following specifications - Interface: ATA-8, SATA 2.6, 3.0GB/s, Width: 70mm, and Height: 9.5mm. It can also support SSDs with the following specifications - Interface: SATA 3 (6GB/s), Width: 70 mm, Height: 7mm.

If your computer is starting to slow down, or is often freezing, it is quite possible that your hard drive is failing and needs replacement. If your device has low storage capacity for your files, documents, and programs, it might be time to upgrade your device’s hard drive. Follow instructions to find out how much storage your PC has. You can also follow this guide to resolve low disk space issues and errors.

Before using this guide, make sure to review the troubleshooting page - your Windows Operating System, malware or corrupted files could be the issue, not necessarily your hard drive. If you are experiencing any of these scenarios, it is crucial to back up your device BEFORE attempting to replace your hard drive.

The back casing of your device can be easily removed, as seen in step 2, by a simple slide locking mechanism. Therefore, no additional tools are required to complete this guide. However, a Portable Anti-Static Mat, Wrist Strap, and Grounding Cord are recommended to avoid electrostatic damage to your device and components.

Before beginning, make sure to power off your device entirely and disconnect from any external power source.
