Computer is not able to connect to the internet through WIFI Internet connection.
Click the network icon on the bottom right of your task bar to see if you are connected to WIFI. Sometimes when the laptop disconnects from a network it will not log back in to it. Also check to see if your internet service provider is down. You might have to wait until it is back up.
Right click on the network icon on the bottom right of the taskbar and click troubleshoot problems. Windows will automatically try to figure out why your computer cannot connect to the internet and try to solve the problem.
To reset router or modem unplug the device. Wait one minute before pugging it back in. Rebooting your router will clean the device’s short term memory.
There might be a issue on the way your network is configured. Here is a way to reset it using the command prompt. To reset network settings go the the search bar on the bottom left of the task bar and search cmd. Open it in administrator mode. Next enter the following commands into the command prompt.
- ipconfig /releaseipconfig /renewipconfig /flushdnsnet stop dhcpnet start dhcp
Restart the computer and check if the problem is solved.
If any other devices on your network are connected to your WIFI and the laptop is still not able to you might need to replace your network adapter. Please refer to this guide.
Computer is crashing ,stuck on display, and not responding to any commands.
Make sure the device is not overheating. Restart the device. If it does not power on it can be overclocked.
If your computer has a virus and keeps crashing, run a performance tune up check on the HP website. Then download and run antivirus software like Norton.
Access task manager by clicking CTRL ALT DELETE, to see how much CPU and memory each running software is using. Then click on the Window’s menu and search “ run “, afterwards type “ msinfo32 “ to find the space on the computer. Replace your HDD with a [invalid guide link] for a faster computer.
When pressing keys on the keyboard, there is either a delay or no response.
After pressing a key, there is a short delay before the character displays on the screen.
- In the Windows menu, search Keyboard.Open Ease of Access keyboard settings or Change how your keyboard works.Disable Use Filter Keys option.
The “key repeat delay” might need to be adjusted if two or more characters are typed when pressing a single key.
- In the Windows menu search Keyboard.Open Keyboard Properties.On the Repeat delay slider, drag to the Long option.Click Apply, then click OK.
If your keyboard is not working, try the following steps:
- First, shut down the computer.Once completely shut down, press the Power button, followed IMMEDIATELY by pressing the ESC key REPEATEDLY. This should open up the Start Menu.
*Note: If the Startup Menu screen fails to open, the issue could be in the keyboard hardware. Replacement or maintenance of the keyboard may be needed.
- In the Startup Menu, press the F10 key to open the BIOS setting.Press F5, load the computer’s default settings.Then press F10 to confirm the changes.Restart the computer.In the Window’s menu, search for Device Manager.Click on View.Then click on Show Hidden Devices.Click on the arrow next to Keyboards.Right click on the keyboard.Click Uninstall, ensuring to remove all devices in the Keyboard category.Restart the Computer.
The computer is slower than usual and is taking a long time to boot.
- Right click on the keyboard.Click Uninstall, ensuring to remove all devices in the Keyboard category.
If your laptop is running slow it or is having trouble downloading programs this may be caused by having a too many programs download, Just like when you first received the laptop it had limited programs installed and it ran faster. This works in the same way. In some cases you might have programs downloaded that you don’t use now or even know that were downloaded just taking up space slowing down your computer. Follow these steps to uninstall some programs:
- Windows 10: Click the search bar down at the bottom of the screen and type “control panel” + enterHover your mouse over to the area that says “Programs” and click the text under it that says “Uninstall a Program”Look at the list of programs and see if there is anything you can uninstallRestart computer and see if it helps your computer run a little faster!
If your computer tends to take awhile to load the internet or other programs when you first turn it on then you should take a look at how many programs are automatically opening up when you boot your computer. This can cause your computer to be slow when you first turn it on because its trying to load the memory of all the startup programs. If you want to update the startup programs to the ones you prefer then follow these steps:
- Click “Ctrl + Alt + Del” and select Task Manager or “right click” your windows icon usually located on bottom left of screen and select Task ManagerAt the top of Task Manager navigate to the “Startup” tabDisable any programs you don’t need to use when you boot your PCLastly restart your PC and see if it improves the speed of boot time and programs opening.
If you notice any of theses symptoms; computer is taking longer to access a file, the PC system may hang, freeze or crash from time to time, your computer crashes and give you an error of disk fragmentation. In worst cases your computer boots up slow and ends up giving you a Hard Drive error/blue screen. These may all be signs that you have a Fragmented or Corrupted Hard Drive.
If you want to Defrag your hard drive take these steps:
- Click the Start menu or Windows buttonSelect Control Panel, then System and SecurityUnder Administrative Tools, click Defragment your hard driveSelect Analyze disk. The report you get will indicate if you need to defrag your disk.If you need to manually defrag your disk, click Defragment disk
In worst case scenario where you cant boot your computer on your current Corrupted Hard Drive, you might need to replace your Hard Drive (HDD) or Sold State Drive (SSD) (If you currently have a Hard Drive and you want to improve the overall speed you can choose to upgrade to a Sold State Drive):

The laptop is not showing signs of charge while its plugged into wall outlet.
If you notice that everything is plugged in correctly; The wall, Laptop , Adapter and your not getting a charge light on. Then you might have a faulty wall outlet take these steps to see if its the outlet.
- If there are two outlets in the wall try to plug the Adapter into both and see if one of them gets the “Green Light” is onIf both fail then find the other nearest outlet and repeat the same steps.
Ensure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, that means the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
If you buy a replacement adapter and your problem still exists then take this last topic into consideration.
