CD/DVD doesn’t play after inserted or show in file browser.
Your CD/DVD Drive won’t be able to read/recognize a damaged CD/DVD. Ensure the CD/DVD plays on another device before trying it on your HP EliteBook. If it doesn’t, then the CD/DVD is faulty, you have to buy a new one.
Confirm the CD/DVD drive is listed in Device Manager. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager. Double-click the DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand the category. If a CD/DVD drive is not listed in the DVD/CD-ROM drives, use the Hardware and Devices trouble shooter to fix it.
Insert the CD/DVD in the computer’s CD/DVD player. If the computer doesn’t play the CD, the CD/DVD player is faulty. You can replace it with this replacement guide.
Power light is on but computer fails to startup properly and won’t progress further from booting screen .
Disconnect the AC power adapter (the charger), and remove the battery using our replacement guide (don’t replace the battery in this step; its removal is only necessary for the hard reset). Then, press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power and restore default startup settings. Put the battery back into its place, and reconnect the AC power adapter; then press the Power button. If the computer starts normally after performing a hard reset, you are done troubleshooting.
If the computer is not responding after you performed a hard reset, you can restore the computer to its original factory condition if you have operating system recovery discs (you can create one). Connect any USB drive to your computer, then type “recovery drive” in the search box. Select “create a recovery drive”. Then follow windows’ instructions.
The HP Hard Drive Self-Test can diagnose and repair most errors. Turn on the computer and press F10 to boot into the BIOS Setup and select Hard Disk Test. If your HP Hard Drive Self-Test fails to repair your hard drive, your laptop might need a new hard drive. Replace the Hard Drive using this guide.
“Not enough memory” message pops up when attempting to use a particular software (application or program).
Shut down your computer. Let it sit for a few minutes before restarting it. When your computer restarts, attempt the same action if you receive the error message again. This is often enough to free up the necessary memory. If you have insufficient memory still, choose to cleanup your temporary files by using DiskCleanup in System Tools.
If the computer has no sufficient memory, you need a new memory card. Replace the memory using this replacement guide.
Computer doesn’t open or close or is difficult to open or close.
The HP EliteBook 8560w computer only opens when the central button is pressed. Press the button to open the computer.
If it’s hard to open or close the computer, the hinge is stiff. To make it easier to open, lubricate the hinge.
Trackpad, audio and USB entries work, but built-in keyboard doesn’t.
Type “Device manager” in the search box, then scroll down and click “keyboards.” If there is an exclamation mark by the default keyboard, then windows has detected a problem. Right click the keyboard, click “uninstall device,” and reboot your laptop. The keyboard should reinstall automatically.
If your keyboard is faulty, you must first find out which keyboard you use so you may buy a replacement. Then, you can replace it using this guide.
