Brightness keys are unresponsive when attempting to turn brightness up or down.
Often, users will use FN keys to adjust brightness. These can sometimes become locked, preventing the user from adjusting brightness. If your FN key is not working, try updating the BI0S driver and hotkey support drive. Press the F10 key to open BI0S setup menu. Select advanced menu, device configuration menu, and enable FN key switch.
Hotkeys can sometimes stop working after an update that conflicts with driver software. To best fix this issue, try to re-download the update and restart the computer.
Many users have had problems with BI0S. This is a more risky action, but if nothing else has worked, this sometimes has to be updated. In order to do this, check HP Image Assistant and follow the instructions on the website, which can be found here. This can sometimes be the cause of the issue.
While listening to audio, the sound is quiet, hampered, or grainy.
Although you have many ways to change the volume on your device, sometimes putting every slider to the maximum or minimum value can cause unintended consequences like grainy or muffled audio. With sliders set to the maximum, the intensity of the volume causes artifacts or mistakes in the sound. With sliders set to the minimum, the sound can seem muffled, hampered, or just quiet. Volume sliders are generally found on the task bar at the bottom of the screen, on a website that is being used, or on your speakers or headphones.
Sometimes the audio quality is lackluster due to a peripheral or outside device attached to the computer. Try using another set of headphones or speakers to see if the audio problem persists. If the problem does not persist, then the headphones or speakers that you initially used were broken and should be replaced. If the problem persists, then your headphones or speakers were not the cause of the problem.
When you use keys that would normally be displayed as letters, numbers pop up on the screen instead.
For the multivariate user base, there are many keyboard shortcuts that are included as options. It is possible that you accidentally used one of these options. Try pressing the num lock key. If your ability to type letters has returned to normal, then try pressing the number lock key again to toggle it back to the original position. Then press and hold the Fn key and then press the number lock key. Then, try to type again.
Review the Hp driver site, found [here], and download the installation wizard. Start up the installation wizard and follow the instructions provided by the wizard to completion. Then, try to type again.
It is possible, although unlikely, that a virus could have caused this. Review your antivirus software and run a scan to see if there is any program that would cause deterioration to your system. Then, try to type again.
The touch screen does not respond to your finger or stylus.
Your touchscreen may not respond because it is not enabled. In Windows, search and open Device Manager. Click on the Human Interface Devices list and right-click HID-compliant touch screen. Click Enable. If the screen still does not respond, continue to the next step.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual charge. Reinsert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the computer. If a startup menu appears, select Start Windows Normally with the arrow key and press Enter.
Right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Uninstall. Restart the computer to reinstall the touch screen driver.
Installing an updated version of the graphics card driver might repair the touch screen’s functionality. Open Device Manager and expand the Firmware menu. Click System Firmware. Select the Driver tab and Update Driver. Select Search automatically for updated driver software. Wait for the update to download and follow the instructions.
If the touch screen digitizer is broken, you may wish to replace it. A guide to do so can be found here. This involves buying a new display and an opening tool to remove the old display.
If your HP EliteBook x360 830 G7 doesn’t power up, this might be due to a few causes: a faulty power supply, failed hardware or screen issue. Usually, you can solve the issue yourself by replacing parts or, as it is often the case, by adjusting your computer’s configurations. To get your laptop power up, try one of the following tips
If your HP EliteBook doesn’t turn on when it is plugged in, check your power supply. There could be several issues with power supply systems. First, remove your laptop battery. Next, plug your computer to a functional outlet. If your laptop powers up without the battery, the issue is with the battery and not the power supply.
Start by disconnecting all external display devices (projectors and monitors) to prevent them from interfering with the startup. If the power button is lit, the fan is working and the computer displays no image, turn off the light in your room to check if there is a faint image being displayed. If your faint image appears, your screen inverter has broken and needs replacement. If there is no image, the issue could be with the brightness button. If your laptop powers up but there is no image, your LCD panel could be broken. You need to fix it.
A memory card, DVD, or USB drive left in your laptop might prevent it from functioning. It might be getting “stuck” because the BIOS may be trying to boot from a removable storage device. Remove all USB drives and other devices and try to boot up your computer.
