My laptop won’t power on. The LED lights don’t glow, the display is black, and the computer doesn’t start.

First, disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. We want to test the computer not the accessories. Then, disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds. After that, reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery). Press the Power button, look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.

Check the power socket on the computer and the AC adapter and cords for physical damage such as fraying or cuts. If damaged, they may need to be replaced for safety reasons.

If your computer still doesn’t turn on or hold a charge, your battery may be faulty. Replace the battery.

The screen isn’t fully functioning. There’s problems like the display not turning on, or dead pixels in the display.

This clears all information from the computer’s memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, unresponsive keyboard, or other external devices locking up.

If the power reset method doesn’t work on your laptop, or there are still few lines on the screen, it might be dead pixels, and the screen might need to be replaced.

The touchpad isn’t responding to any finger touch, or movements.

A missing or wrong version of the software drivers might lead you into this issue. All you need to do is click the link below and find the driver that your laptop is missing or needs to be updated, then download and update it.

If your touchpad has any physical damage, it may need to be replaced.

Click start in search type Recovery Manager then click on it select Yes on User access control then select “I need immediate help”. Select Driver & Application Recovery and select the wireless driver and install it. Finally restart the unit.

Try reseating the wireless card, which will be on the back panel of your unit. If that does not restore wifi functionality, your wireless card may be faulty and may need to be replaced.

Volume is up, but no sound is coming out of the speakers.

Go into Device Manager and make sure that the sound output is going through your devices speakers, and that no bluetooth speaker or wired speaker is connected.

Go into Device Manager and select Sound, Video and Game controllers. Uninstall the speaker drivers and go onto HP’s website and redownload and install the drivers.
