The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Ensure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
The light on the adapter is on, make sure the adapter is connected to the laptop. If the laptop only powers up when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of charging time, then the battery is faulty. Replace the battery (Link to guide here)
The laptops fan is loud or overheating
Turn the laptop on, locate the vent for the fan on the back of the laptop. Place your ear up to the vent and listen and feel for warm air to blow out. If the fan is running, you should hear or feel the air blowing out. If no air is blowing out, download and run an application such as Core Temp. This application displays the core temperature of each processor in your system along with the minimum and maximum temperatures for that core processor. From the results of this application, you will learn if the fan is working properly. If temperatures are too hot, the fan needs to be replaced. Use this (Link to guide here) to replace the cooling fan.
Device Is Hot
Computers can overheat due to excessive dust and other materials stuck in the vents or fan. To fix this, use a compressed air duster to carefully blow the dust off the vents and fan.
Your computer does not load the Operating System and instead takes you to an error message.
If your computer crashes during normal operation, crashes during memory-intensive tasks, or beeps and will not boot up, this means you have bad RAM or that you do not have enough RAM. (Link to guide here) into your computer.
If the Hard Drive has failed or is beginning to fail, the device may fail to load programs vital to running Windows. This may cause the device to randomly shut down or fail to boot up. If the device can still power on, attempt to open Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys simultaneously. Once the Task Manager opens, press “More details” at the bottom of the window. You should be in the “Processes” tab where you can monitor CPU and Disk usage. If your Disk is running at a high percentage of usage, it will be highlighted red. If this is the case, attempt to run a Disk Check by opening the command line in the Start Menu and typing “cmd.exe.” Once this is open, simply type “chkdsk.exe,” press Enter, and wait for it to perform a scan. The program will indicate if it encounters any problems and will attempt to resolve them. If this does not resolve the problem, you may need to replace the Hard Drive (Link to guide here).
The device frequently blue screens or fails to boot up.
Ensure the laptop is plugged into the power adapter, then press the power button. If the laptop does not turn on or the “death screen” pops up, the motherboard needs replaced. Replace the motherboard by using this replacement guide.
Videos are having problems displaying on your device. This can include distortion, discoloration, slowdown, stuttering, or a blank screen.
Make sure that the display is not accidentally disabled. To do this, press one of the “Fn” keys in the lower corner of the keyboard and then press “F2.” If the display was disabled by accident, then this will re-enable the display.
If the above action does not fix the problem, repeat the previous instruction once more, hold down the Windows key, and then push “P” twice. The computer may have been previously set to “Projector mode;” doing the action above will convert it back to “Computer Only.”
