The computer crashed. When restarted, an error message appears instead of loading the operating system.
If your computer crashes during normal operation, crashes during memory intensive tasks, or beeps and will not boot up, this probably means you have bad RAM or that you do not have enough RAM. Install RAM(link) into your computer.
While you’re working, the computer randomly shuts off.
Computers can overheat due to blocked vents or fans. Use a compressed air duster to clean these areas which can usually be found on the side or bottom of laptop. If cleaning doesn’t work the fan may need to be replaced. Find (link) here
The device may not have enough contact between the heat sink and the processor. This could be air in between them or not enough thermal paste present. Repair guide here (link)
The device won’t power on even when plugged in.
Sometimes laptops require a lot of power, due to running demanding programs, which can cause the battery to not charge efficiently. If the battery isn’t charging to its full capacity or even at all, try shutting down the laptop completely and leave it off during the full charge cycle. Then reboot and view battery level. If no charge is present you’ll need to replace the battery (link).
A laptop can still be used with a dead battery through an AC adapter. An AC adapter is designed to switch between power sources. The laptop doesn’t draw power from the battery when the AC adapter is in use. If the laptop isn’t running when using the AC adapter , then the AC adaptor is the problem and will need to be replaced (link).
Your HP Folio 13t-1000 does not produce sound or has poor sound quality regardless of sound levels.
On the bottom right corner there should be a speaker icon. Click on it and raise the bar to increase the volume.
If the speaker icon is missing, click the Start/Windows button on the bottom left corner of your screen. Click Control Panel then Click Sound. Under the Playback Tab, right click the speaker icon with a check mark next to it and click on Properties. Under the Levels tab you can see your laptop’s volume.
Click the Windows button on the bottom left corner. In the search bar type “run” and click on the program called Run. In the search bar type in “services.msc”. Look for the service called Windows Audio. If the Startup Type does not state “Automatic” for Windows Audio, double click it. It should now be on automatic. Restart your laptop.
Click the Windows Button then click Control Panel. The laptop’s audio driver, Altec Lansing Dolby Advanced Audio, should be listed. Click on it and check for updates.
The speaker may be malfunctioning. This may be due to a damage to the connections between the motherboard and the speakers or a blown speaker. Follow the HP 13t-1000 speaker replacement guide for detailed instructions on the disassembly of the device and replacement of the speakers.
Although unlikely, if none of the steps above work then the sound card card may be dead. The only way to fix a sound card is to replace the motherboard.
Your HP Folio 13t-1000 cursor does not move or does not respond immediately to your input.
If your cursor moves, but does not respond immediately, there may be too many programs running in the background. To find whether or not this is the issue, open Windows Task Manager. Under the performance tab, look at the percent usages of the CPU, RAM, and the Disk. If any of these are nearing 100% usage, they may be the source of poor response times.
To lower these percentages, first restart the computer. If the values do not decrease after restarting, open Task Manager and view your active applications. If many background applications are running, try closing the higher resource consuming applications that are not in use. To prevent this in the future, choose what programs may start up automatically in Task Manager under the Services tab.
If the above does not lower the percent usages to less than 95%, replacement of the “weakest link” of the hardware may be admissible, such as the RAM or SSD.
If your cursor is not moving or your cursor is not functioning as it may have before, then the driver may be malfunctioning. This may be due to corruption of the HP driver or possibly due to Windows Applying a generic trackpad driver in lieu of the HP driver. First, check your driver version under the Drivers tab of Windows System options. If your cursor is preventing you from entering the settings, use the Window Key to access the settings and directional keys to navigate them.
If the driver is not HP, the generic windows trackpad driver may not be working well with the device. Download the latest HP driver from HP’s support page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/self…
There you will be prompted to select your operating system. Do so and follow the directions there for the installation of the HP trackpad driver.
If the driver is an HP driver, do a complete uninstall of the driver by using the uninstall option in the Drivers tab of Windows System options and then install the the latest HP trackpad driver from the link above.
If all else fails, it may be a hardware issue. A ribbon cable may have become disconnected or it may be a complete hardware failure. Please refer to HP 13t-1000 trackpad replacement guide for detailed instructions on disassembly in order to inspect the trackpad hardware.
