Regardless of charge time, the laptop does not stay on when it is disconnected from the power adapter.

If the laptop continually shuts down or only stays powered on for a short period of time when it is not connected to the power adapter, the battery may need to be replaced. Use this guide to replace the battery.

Clicking or screeching noises are coming from the laptop.

If there are screeching or clicking noises coming from the laptop, the hard drive may be failing and may need to be replaced. Use this guide to replace the hard drive.

The laptop runs slowly or crashes unexpectedly.

The Random Access Memory (RAM) modules may be failing. Use this guide to replace the RAM modules.

The RAM modules may have bad memory segments and both modules will need to be replaced with new modules. Use this guide to replace the RAM modules.

An error message is displayed on the screen stating “cannot connect to wireless networks. You may also notice the laptop has “x” over the networking symbol in the system tray.

If the laptop can connect to the internet when an Ethernet cable is used but cannot connect via WiFi, the Wireless Networking card is bad and needs to be replaced. Use this guide to replace the WiFi Networking card.

Programs do not run from CD or DVD.

A CD drive cleaning disk can be used to clean the lens of the optical drive. If the problem persists, the drive may need to be replaced.

If the laptop does not display disc information, the drive may need to be replaced. Use this guide to replace the CD drive.
