Introduction

What you need

Step 1

              Hard Drive               
  • Fully power off the laptop.
  • If you are unsure that your laptop is in hibernation mode, turn the computer off from the start menu.
  • Unplug charging cable and any external devices.

  • Position the laptop upside down on a flat and clean surface.
  • Make sure to stay away from static discharge or wear an anti-static wrist strap.
  • Remove the two Phillips M2x5.0 screws located at the top left and top right of the laptop (circled in red).
  • Remove the eight M2.5x6.0 (circled in orange).

Step 3

  • Keep in mind, there are three internal clips by the battery area.
  • Slide the nylon opening tool around the edge of the base enclosure, releasing the three clips by the battery area.
  • Continue to slide the nylon opening tool around the edges of the base enclosure, doing so while loosen the cover.

  • After successfully loosening the base enclosure, and removing it. You will be left with an exposed motherboard.

Step 5

  • Unplug the battery from the motherboard.
  • Release the battery cable from the routing channel to reveal the screws beneath.

  • Remove the four 2x5 screws using the Phillips screwdriver.

  • Slide the battery out of its space to remove it from the computer.

Step 8

  • Disconnect the clip attaching the hard drive cable to the motherboard.
  • Be careful when disconnecting this clip, as it is very delicate.
  • Use your fingers or a spudger to disconnect the cable. Do not use a screwdriver for the job. It could cause damage.
  • Slide the hard drive out horizontally.

  • Disassemble the hard drive by removing the connector and the side brackets.

  • Reattach the side brackets and the hard drive connector.

  • Slide the hard drive back to the original spot.
  • Reclip the hard drive to the motherboard.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
