I can’t remove the backplate because I can’t find the clips. How do I get the backplate off after unscrewing the screws? (I am using an ifixit pro tech toolkit.)

We were able to get the backplate unclipped by starting between the hinges and sliding the tool along until the opposite end. Then we went back to the hinges and worked our way around in the opposite direction and the plate came right off without any fuss.
