If you have sufficient RAM, then there may be an issue with the hard drive. The files on the hard drive may be fragmented, which requires a defragmentation process. For Windows 10, there is a built-in defragmentation tool. The easiest way to find it is to click on “Start”, and search “Defragment and Optimize Drives”. Click on the first result. Select your primary drive, (will most likely be called C: drive) and click “Optimize”. Check this guide HP Pavilion 15-ab165us Hard Drive Replacement for instructions on replacing the Hard Drive.

If the HDD is not full, it may be defective. You may need to replace the HDD entirely. If possible save all of your files to another device if you hard drive is showing signs of issues.
Some files that are required for Windows to run may be corrupted or even missing. If you can still log in to your device, use it to create a recovery drive, otherwise you’ll need another Windows 10 device.

Restart the computer with the USB flash drive plugged in and hold down the bios key (typically f10 but is displayed on the hp splash screen in the bottom right corner) while booting up. Once in the bios, use the directional keys to go into “Boot” settings.Select the flash drive for the 1st boot drive. Hit the f10 key again to exit and save the bios settings, which will boot you into the Window 10 recovery software. Select “Troubleshoot” then “Recover from a drive”. If your laptop battery used to hold a charge, but is no longer doing so, your battery may be dead and need to be replaced. Check to make sure the battery doesn’t need to be charged by plugging it into a power source. If this is not the problem, you may need to remove the battery and replace it with a new one.
Make sure that the charger is plugged into a functional power source, and fully plugged into the laptop charging port. Check to ensure there are no tears or damage to the cord. If the charger is still not functioning, you may need to purchase a new one.

The keyboard area of your laptop is unusually hot during use.
If the keyboard area of your laptop is overheating during use, you may need to clear the vents of dust or debris. Locate the vents on your device and do a visual check of the area. If necessary, use a compressed air canister to free the debris.
If the vents are clear of debris, the ventilation fan may not be working. You may need to open up the body of the laptop in order to access and replace the broken piece.
Laptops tend to get warm to the touch when under strenuous use. If there are several programs running in the background, they may be overworking the processor. You may need to close unnecessary background programs to create a lighter load for the processor.
